The career of the Ikonta C 521/2 has started in 1938. During the
WW2, its production is put on hold. It has been restarted at the end of
the hostilities and has finally stopped in 1947. This camera annonces
the close ending of the foldings and the arrival of cameras with compact
bodies. The rotating viewfinder, usually attached to the shutter, has
disappeared. The shutter release is no more attached to the shutter but
directly located on the top of the camera body.
This cameara was sold with different choices of lens :

In addition of an outstanding quality of fabrication, the main
characteristic of this camera was a system to avoid double exposures. |
It was 5 am in Autumn. I was pacing up and down the paths of an open
market from the north of France. A flashlight was in my hand, the other
one was stuck in my pocket against the cold.
Suddenly I saw it, displayed on a small sideboard. I dodged in and out
of the furnitures and finally I reached this superb Ikonta 521/2. It is
in an outstanding shape, almost like pristine. Not a scratch and fully
operational. It is one of the greatest camera of my collection. Asking
about its price, it was also a good surprise... |
