Folding cameras
The N°1A Autographic Kodak Junior is a typical folding from the pre-WW1 period in US.
The camera's body is in wood but the front and back sides are in metal. All sides are coverer with a black leather skin.

Like the N°1A (Autographic) Pocket Kodak model, this camera was using 116 format roll film which allowed 8 pictures. The size of the negative was 6,5 x 11cm.
This camera has the famous "Autographic" back which allowed the photographer to add some notes directly onto the film. To do this, he had to use a small point in metal which is secured in a placeholder, located on the back of the camera.

The A model is mounted with an achromatic lens and is equipped of a Kodak Ball Bearing shutter offering the following speeds : 1/25s, N, 1/50s, T, 1/100s.

Focusing can be done by moving the stand which supports the lens. A six positions range meter (2 to 30m), fixed onto the base of the camera, is used as marker.

The N°1A (Autographic) Pocket Kodak has been clearly inspired by the "Art-Deco" style, but curiously enough, its stand is decorated with a strange logo in Gothic scrip.
This was probably made for commercial reasons, in order to challenge other camera makers such as Contessa-Nettel, Ernemann, Goerz or Ica...

This camera has been offered to me by John, an American friend who is living in New Jersay. He and I are suffering from the same serious illness : the "collecting mania". To those who think an old camera collection takes a lot of place, that's nothing compared with John's collection of... BMW motocycles. He has a very large garage!

If you like old motorcyles, I do recommend to visit his web site

Sorry John... As I was sure you will say "Nooooo !", I finally decided to not ask you for your permission to publish this picture.  J
